I heard this quote at my first official TUJ faculty event way back on May 25. It really resonated with me then, and now it seems the most appropriate thing to say at the end of this amazing summer ...
“In a sense, it is the coming back, the return, which gives meaning to the going forth. We really don’t know where we’ve been until we come back to where we were – only where we were may not be as it was because of who we’ve become, which, after all, is why we left.

In this case returning from Japan.
I know where I've been, ... I think.
But ... will my where be as it was? Will I be who I was?
And the most important question ... will my cats remember me?
